Introduction: Zinc and cooper are microelements necessary for the proper functioning of the human organism. About 20–40% of the population suffers from too low a supply of zinc, which is why this element requires frequent supplementation. Multicomponent diet supplements are often used as a source of minerals (also Zn and Cu) for the body.
Material and Methods: 22 vitamin-mineral dietary supplements purchased from local pharmacies were analyzed. The concentration of Zn and Cu in the samples was determined with the flame AAS method.
Results: The concentration of Zn and Cu determined in the samples was often different from that declared by manufacturers. The administration of dietary supplements provided around 30–150% of the recommended daily intake for Zn and Cu.
Conclusions: Dietary supplements require legal regulations regarding their quality.
